Match Notes By El Cordobes

We continue in first place!! We continue playing very well -- the defense is impeccable. I am totally convinced that they are the best part of this team and that this winning burst is thanks to them. It is so easy to play when the team defends well. We have a line of four that defends with all and without letting the other forwards breathe. I have nothing more to say; not a single error from the four in the back -- not even when we make substitutions. A wall!!! I believe that the midfield played a little light considering the quantity of balls that were distributed and especially since we dominated so much of the game -- and the defense delivered the ball to us time and time again. We did not utilize each opportunity to the max, and it was clear that we unable to generate enough situations at the goal. Players were well marked, but we played with a lot of pace and we stayed organized most of the game. But there were several opportunities from the midfield which failed after the ball was delivered to the forwards who missed easy shots. The forwards wasted many goals in the ‘bad spell’, but Fernando Camps and Charly were well guarded and the perfect ball was never quite delivered. The field did not help since the ball was sliding very fast and their goalkeeper played a great game (he saved several goals and was the center of his team). Of course, this would have been regretable if we had failed to score with all those opportunities on goal, but by luck and with the luxury of being able to miss several goals, we nail them for 3 -- and that is not so little. The new players (Joaocarlos and Steve) showed us the spirit of soccer, two new veterans on the team (with Scott and Ben we now have a veteran in each line). We will be referring to these guys as the granddads on the 30-40; and they can also play on the O 40 too. Veterans Congratulations!! In conclusion I believe that the team is solid and we play the game of football by touch -- to the goal with a lot of good passes. If we all join and play together and not just PASS AND RUN after the ball, then I expect that this team will continue very well. MVP. Sorry, but it continues to be the defense (included the goalkeeper). None deserves less than MVP, so it goes to them all. HM. Charly Ruiz, he forces and forces and forces, goes to the middle, passes, orders, runs and he never gets tired of running. Sorry Charly that we had to take away your minutes. LVP. The players that didn't come. Fix your week and come play FOOTBALL.
