Match Notes By El Cordobes

We continue fighting for the title! Each week (and having not played for 2 weeks) we continue to show that we are an excellent team. In spite of the fact that we were without out our scorer and one of the best forwards in the tournament (Charly Ruiz) we did get 4 goals. Although the other team was probably missing players, we dominated them the entire game and their goal meant nothing. I believe that we did very well with our adjustments. Matt in midfield and the various players that do not always show up did very well -- Javier, Carlos, Toby, Cosimo and Gustavo. They were able to fit right into the flow of the game. The substitutions really helped and everybody had enough time on the field without getting too tired. In general the team is very tight, when players enter they know that they have to run hard for 15-20 minutes and after that come out again -- this is great for team spirit and may carry us to the Championship. The defense as always was very solid, it is obvious that this is the key to our team. In goal, Scott continues to show why he is one of the best in the tournament (only 4-5 goals and one that we won't mention at the end of the game). We expect that this group will continue to do well. The midfield is getting better; I believe that the balls delivered from Matt combined well with Dani, Alex, Gustavo and Oscar -- and this really helps us when we need to control the ball. The forwards had to fix the situation of the goals not coming to us in the previous games. Alex as always was close (he got the goal all alone, he nailed it for the team with a lot of confidence). Steve controlled the ball very well and it is noted that he understands the game well. Cosimo entered 10 minutes to go and completely unbalanced the other team and Oscar really energized the team in the first half and he put us on the scoreboard. By luck we got goals, but we do not forget the absence of Charly Ruiz, and we expect that the next game he will be ready (and I believe that with Charly we will crush them). In conclusion, we are headed for the championship, but it but important that the team stick together a little bit longer. MVP. Matt. He energized the midfield and delivered 2 assists; he was comfortable in his position. HM. Very close between Oscar and Alex, but with the goal -- sorry Alex we cannot give it to you. Oscar showed how he could really play in the first half. LVP. We would know who that would go to if we drew or lost because of the gift goal, but it had no influence on the result; just one play -- the rest of the game was very solid. Next week we again rest, and I expect that everybody will be ready including (Javier, Carlos, Cosimo, Gustavo and Toby)
