Match Notes By El Cordobes

We lost our unbeaten streak but nothing else. After thinking about the game, I believe that the team did well to try to rescue itself. The team was intact, certain on the field. The injuries to Charly Ruiz and the Camp forwards did not help, but the team put a lot of effort into the game. We found ourselves down by 2 goals in the first 10 minutes; the first one was not very clear, and on the second one they threw what appeared to be a center and the ball hit the crossbar before being hit in the goal (it was a ‘one in a hundred’ shot). In spite of being down by 2 goals we came back to score and make it 2-1 and we were then looking for a tie. We were not really worried since we knew that we could control the game in the second half. Sadly, when we were looking for the tie, Fernando Camp (who was having a very good first half) was injured. But by luck the second goal came (a perfect shot from Joaocarlos -- a tremendous goal). But when we tried to get the third goal we realized that Alex Camp was injured and was not in the game, leaving us with very few options. Without a doubt the field was very bad for both teams, the referees were horrible, and even though Raul was allowed to finish the game, without many subs we certainly were not helping ourselves out (and Javier decided not to play???). Both teams are hurt by these things, but they had many more subs and huge players that just kicked the ball in any direction. Their crosses into the area made us tremble and they made their corners with long shots from their goalie (or any other player) onto our side which then produced a dirty corner shot. Scott was also having problems getting the ball out from the back. In conclusion, we showed a ton of desire, and I sincerely believe that we all tried on the field, but they took advantage of the poor play and won a game that maybe they did not deserve. But soccer is not always a fair game. Luckily we do not have to play on that field again, and the scoring will improve with the return of Charly Ruiz, and I’m sure the defense will be consolidated again. I think that the goalkeeping (with that final goal, if the ball is in the goal area there will either be a foul on the goalkeeper or foul by the forward); the defense (what happened on the second goal?); the midfield on the first goal; and the forwards that could not convert the goals all lead to our defeat. The game was lost because of the poor play of the entire team. I believe that we will get a victory this week. I believe that the whole team is ready to play this next week and only the rain can stop us from our revenge. We will put everything into the game. The last game was not very entertaining -- but I do not believe that any team can play soccer on that field (it is merely run and kick the ball). MVP. Difficult, very difficult, but as always the play of Raul and Sebastian in defense. I do not recall any errors from Seba, and I am tired of giving it to Raul — so it goes to Sebastian (impeccable, no errors the entire game). HM. Joaocarlos. His goal gave us the chance for a tie. LVP. The field, the refs, and the poor play of the entire team. Luckily there are only 4 more days till the next game!!!
