Since
Cristian was not there yesterday,
I will write this report. This used
to be my job many years ago until
Bicho took over but he was a disaster
cause he would only write the report
if we won the game. Any ways here
it is:
We played against a team that always
gives us trouble. Not because they
play pretty soccer, but because
they run like crazy and they have
a defense that is disciplined, fast
and stays back. In my opinion, they
had more control of the first half
and had a several occasions to score.
We only had one opportunity and
we took advantage of it. The goal
came on a free kick, beautifully
executed by me, where I intelligently
passed the ball to the center where
Carli was standing alone. Carli,
chipped the ball over the defense,
into the area, where Mattias broke
through and slowly shot the ball
into the net.
In the second half, we took more
control of the game. Unfortunately,
they took advantage of a defensive
lapse and some luck, to dribble
through three defenders, and pass
the ball to a man who was all alone
in front of the goal.
After that goal, we started to
run more and pass with more precision
and we dominated the game. Unfortunately
we couldn't score. We had several
opportunities like the possible
penalty on me, Javier's shot (beautifully
created from a cross from Gordo
(or Carli), which was magnificently
let through by Mattias, to a wide
open Javier near the penalty shot
area), and finally a shot from Oscar
which most people thought was going
in the net.
In the end, a 1-1 tie that I believe
was justified.
Grades are as follows:
Goalie: excellent. More on that
later
Defense: stunk. Sorry guys, you
can't always receive praise. Worse
game they've had in a while. Lots
of mistakes and bad passes. Goal
was their fault. Probably due to
the change in players (no Pancho
and no Raul in the second half).
Midfield: Played well. Good passing
and lots of hustle from Carli (redeemed
himself from last game which was
pitiful).
Forwards: Missing in action. Difficult
time given that the other team always
had four quick defenders staying
back
MVP: Alex Camp... Do I deserve
it? of course not. Does it conflict
with what was just mentioned about
the forwards? absolutely. But I'm
writing the report and since Cristian
has never given me an MVP though
I'm sure I've deserved it in the
past, I'll take the award
HM: Scott... solid in goal. Always
in the right place and allowed absolutely
zero rebounds.
LVP: Javier...everyone on that
field knows why. No need to say
more.
