| That is what was in the email that came from Scott
last week after we beat the Screaming Eagles with
only 10 players. I totally agree. Although we did
not play our best, it was an important game. There
are not many teams in the league that can win with
only 10 players. I do not have any doubts that we
were the best team in the tournament for several reasons.
But the important things were that most of the players
who began the team last season remained. Second, the
new incorporations were excellent; even with a lot
of luck, we could not have chosen any better players.
The third thing about the team is that we came week
after week. The team was always together -- there
were no stars that refused to be substituted for and
nobody felt like they had to win the game on their
own. This Championship was won by each of the 20-25
players; we are all Champions since we all participated
on the team. I believe that the toughness of this
team is impressive, and that is something that we
did not always have when the team was being formed
last season. Everybody ran and stuck a leg out for
the balls (even yesterday, in spite of being up by
so many goals, Paulo Uribe was running 20 meters to
get a ball; and this is just a single example). Finally,
we entertained ourselves trying to play the best possible
football. Scott in goal (and Javier for a game) --
an excellent tournament for them both. But the best
thing about the team, I believe, was the defense.
The great teams are always formed from the back, and
without this spectacular defense we would not win
many games. And I believe that in the upcoming season
we will continue to improve. In conclusion the future
of the team is excellent, next season we will have
to defend the title and next Sunday the World Bank
will be playing us as champions. I sincerely hope
that all of us continue playing football over the
next few months. This tenacious team has the pride
and desire to play football and each one of the players
on this team will never be lost.
Congratulations Champions!!!!!!!
El Cordobes.
